Dr. Douglas maintains a focus on cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT). CBT is the gold-standard treatment for many of the most common psychological difficulties, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, and coping with emotionally difficult events. As part of therapy, individuals learn how to think in more nuanced and adaptive ways in order to combat negative thinking patterns. Dr. Douglas draws on modern therapeutic exercises while incorporating mindfulness practices that have been helping individuals find relief for centuries.
Therapy sessions are scheduled weekly for 50 minutes. Dr. Douglas works with individuals seeking both shorter and longer term support. Dr. Douglas will work collaboratively with you to establish the best clinical treatment plan given your unique goals and priorities.

Fees for therapy sessions align with other empirically-trained PhD level practitioners in the Bay Area. Dr. Douglas does not currently contract with insurance companies as an "in-network" provider. Therefore, individuals are expected to pay for therapy at the time of appointment.
Dr. Douglas provides a "superbill" which is documentation that individuals may choose to submit to insurance companies for "out-of-network" reimbursement.
If you are looking to find out if your insurance plan may reimburse for Dr. Douglas' services, contact your insurance company and ask the following questions:
- Am I covered for "out of network" mental healthcare?
- Do I have a separate mental healthcare deductible I need to meet?
- What is my reimbursement rate for CPT code 90834*? Is there a max reimbursement?
*CPT code 90834 is the insurance code for a 45-minute psychotherapy session)
